An Urgent Need to Renew Focus on Salt Reduction
UN Sustainable Development goal 3 aims to: “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”.
Within this goal is the target to: “reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention…” by 2030.
We are now at the midpoint of the 15-year timeline and the outlook for achieving “a better and sustainable future for all” is looking unattainable within the timeframe set.
With salt reduction being a relatively “low hanging fruit” to successfully reducing NCDs, we can be doing more.
We have to be trailblazers inspiring healthier choices.
At LoSalt we believe that this is achievable by empowering the consumer with concise and factual information ensuring health is the default option.
Our new report zones in on the UK’s salt reduction programme, examining how this once pioneering programme can reverse its current floundering status.
