Swap to LoSalt to reduce your risk of stroke
In the UK, 100,000 people have strokes each year, and high blood pressure is the biggest single risk factor. Lowering your blood pressure, even by a small amount, can help you to stay healthy and one way to do this, is to reduce your sodium intake.
Most sodium is in the salt we eat which is why we’re proud to support the Season With Sense campaign, working together to urge and encourage people to “swap the salt and reduce your risk of stroke”.
As part of our partnership, no fewer than 150,000 special tubs of LoSalt® have recently been on sale at major supermarkets, promoting the NHS and Stroke Association’s life-saving FAST message.
Face, Arms, Speech, are the most common signs that someone is having a stroke, with Time being of the essence as strokes are medical emergencies.
If you spot any of these signs, then you must phone 999 straight away, as by Acting FAST you could save someone’s life or reduce the likelihood of a serious disability.
Ambulance paramedics are trained in strokes and will ensure the person receives emergency medical care and specialist treatment. You can find out more about the symptoms of stroke, and learn what to watch out for, on the Stroke Association website.
The special promotional tubs of LoSalt® have been helping to fund the Stroke Association’s vital work for several years.
For every special promotional tub of LoSalt® sold, a 20p donation is made to the charity, which helps support stroke survivors and carers. This all adds up – to date, the sale of promotional tubs has raised a staggering £60,000, all of which has helped towards rebuilding lives after stroke.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported this!
Please note: if you take some types of medication that affect potassium levels, LoSalt and other reduced sodium salt alternatives may not be suitable for you. Check with your GP for advice.
